  • Discipleship

Raising our children and educating them could be described as, "a long obedience in the same direction." The longer we homeschool, the more we believe that to be obedient, to stay on the "narrow pathway" that Jesus described, we need the Lord desperately, and we also need each other.

    Encouragement

Encourage means, "to inspire with hope, courage, or confidence; hearten."

"Therefore encourage one another and build one another up." I Thessalonians 5:11

In the last post, I discussed a Bible reading accountability group that I have been involved with for a year and a half.  Being persuaded about the power of accountability, the idea was born that if we were to accomplish the goal of reading through Scripture in one year, we would need to hold each other accountable. We have a small group of ladies that email each other throughout the day to announce that we have read our Bible for the day.  I receive 4-6 emails in my inbox each day with the subject line as the day of the week, and then they simply say:

Occasionally, if a verse speaks to us, and we have an extra moment, we will comment on it or include it in the email, but it isn't necessary.  It is just that simple – but really so helpful.  There have been many, many times where I have missed my daily reading, but those emails encourage me to get back into the game.

Again, so simple!  Anyone interested can do this.

  • Ask a few friends.  I recommend between five to eight because not everyone emails every day, so this ensures that you get at least two or three emails each day.  Any more than eight may be annoying in your inbox, but maybe not.
