  • Discipleship

Raising our children and educating them could be described as, "a long obedience in the same direction." The longer we homeschool, the more we believe that to be obedient, to stay on the "narrow pathway" that Jesus described, we need the Lord desperately, and we also need each other.

  • Encouragement
    Encouragement

Encourage means, "to inspire with hope, courage, or confidence; hearten."

"Therefore encourage one another and build one another up." I Thessalonians 5:11

    Teaching Preference: Working Together

    “Many hands make light work!”

In our co-op, each mom is asked to teach ONE class and assist in TWO classes. This ensures that the students have a wonderful variety in their teachers, the labor is distributed nicely, and the load is not too burdensome for any mom. If you are new to homeschooling, please don’t be overwhelmed by this requirement. We will be happy to help in any way we can.

Please choose your top five teaching preferences below. Please note that if you choose a class in which you do not have students, you may have extra book/s to buy as teachers must own or have the books for the classes they teach.

    Guideline Agreements

  2. You were asked to read the Parental Guidelines. Here are some highlights that we would like you to review. We know that it is tempting to just click away when you are filling out an online form. However, we ask that you take the time to read and understand the guidelines presented below. These are the foundations of what makes our co-op run smoothly and effectively. Thank you!
  3. I have read completely, understand fully, and agree to comply with all the policies and procedures outlined in the Pathway Christian Cooperative for 2019-2020.
  4. (*)

  5. I understand that as families in Pathway Christian Cooperative, we may hold denominational differences; we are united in our Statement of Faith. I have read and agree with Pathway’s Statement of Faith as outlined in the Parental Guidelines. I understand that we hold sacred the privilege of being an influence in the lives of each other’s children and respect the role God has given each parent as the spiritual leader of their children. Therefore, I agree to avoid espousal of topics that may lie in the area of denominational differences or outside our Statement of Faith.
  6. (*)

  7. I understand and fully commit to complying with Items 1-13 of “Membership Requirements” found on pages 3-5 of Pathway Christian Cooperative Parental Guidelines.

    Paying special attention to:

    1. I understand there is a mandatory summer meeting in early June. This will be a great place to meet other members, learn about the co-op procedures, and get your questions answered.
    2. I understand that PCC is not a drop-off program and that all members contribute to the cooperative with their time, energy, and prayers in the manner outlined throughout the Parental Guidelines. I or my spouse will participate with our children at all PCC gatherings, events, or meetings. I understand that if I leave the campus during my “off” hour, I will sign out giving details about where I can be reached and who is responsible for my child while I am gone.
    3. I agree to commit to Pathway Christian Cooperative for a minimum of a one 10-week trimester.
    4. In the event I decide Pathway Christian Cooperative is not a fit for our family, I will give a minimum of 2-week notice after the 10 week commitment period to enable redistribution of my teaching responsibilities so that classes are not disrupted for PCC students.
    5. If I continue with Pathway Christian Cooperative after the first trimester, I commit to PCC for the remaining two trimesters.
    6. In order to demonstrate respect to the cooperative families and to maximize my family’s participation and benefit, I will make being prompt (arriving 10 minutes before start time) a priority.
  8. (*)

  9. Costs: I understand that the operating and supply fees listed in the Parental Guidelines are due within 3 weeks of being invoiced and are nonrefundable. I understand that the $50 operating expense fee per family is to cover insurance and tax fees. I understand that my registration is not final until payment is received. I also understand that a church facility fee (a tax deductible church donation) of $90 will be required of each family and collected in three $30 installments throughout the year.
  10. (*)
    Invalid Input
  11. I understand that I will be asked to teach a class as well as assist in two others. I also understand that I will be asked to help with other tasks in order for the cooperative to run smoothly.
  12. (*)
    Invalid Input
  13. I understand Pathway Christian Cooperative is an academically based co-op. Any hands-on or interactive activities will be designed to reinforce the academic material students are studying. Pathway is an adjunct to the family homeschool with a focus on providing those activities and interactions for which a group is needed. It is not our goal to teach the material, but to interact with it. Parents must NOT depend on Pathway to be the instructor of any core subject. This is NOT the intent of the cooperative, and our cooperative goals and vision cannot be fulfilled unless parents at home act as the teacher of every subject.

Older students, of course, are often learning many subjects independently and are their own primary teacher, but it is assumed that the parent is providing enough supervision to know whether or not their student is generally keeping up with the material.

It is not the goal of the co-op class to teach the material, but to enhance the material, inspire critical thinking about that material, and to help students make connections in the material through discussion and other group activities. These activities cannot take place unless they’ve done their work at home. Students must come to co-op class with knowledge already acquired in order to be able to use it and apply it in class.
