High School Family Volunteer Requirements

We have made some changes to our volunteer requirements for the 2026/2027 school year. In order for us to remain compliant with our host church, we must fulfill the Safe Sanctuary policy by providing two approved adults in every classroom (one being the instructor).

As a cooperative or co-op, Pathway High School relies on parent volunteers to fulfill this policy to be able to operate during our 30 week academic year.

In any one week, we have 21 volunteer spots that are required to be filled by parents within our high school classes. This equates to about 630 volunteer spots for the entire academic year. In addition, we have student social events and service projects throughout the year that volunteers help to coordinate and chaperone. So you can see how vital it is for the parents of our students to step in and serve alongside us each week. We truly cannot otherwise operate.

It is our hope and prayer that you can see your volunteer time as an opportunity to build relationships, foster your homeschool journey well, and for your family to feel a part of the Pathway Christian Co-op community.

Please prayerfully select your top three preferred time slots during the registration process.

While we will make every effort to honor preferences, final placements will be determined based on:

  • Classroom needs

  • Required adult coverage

  • Volunteer reliability history

Volunteer Choices:

1. Weekly Volunteer: Serves weekly for 1.5 hours (30 total Fridays of our entire academic calendar year) in an assigned position. No other social or service committee work required.

2. Bi-Weekly Volunteer: Serves every other week for 1.5 hours (approximately 15 Fridays of our entire academic calendar year) in an assigned position AND serve on a committee for one student social event per academic semester (for example, Thanksgiving luncheon, bowling night, trivia night, etc.)

3. Monthly Volunteer: Serves one Friday every month for 1.5 hours (approximately 8 days per year) in an assigned position AND serves on a committee for one student social event AND one service event per academic semester (for example, Thanksgiving luncheon, bowling night, trivia night, and Service project options like, Operation Christmas Child, FeedNC, etc.)

4. Extenuating Circumstances: If none of the above three options work for your family, please contact our leadership team about how you can contribute your volunteer time during the school year. (Ex: working single parent, full time employment, young children at home, etc.)

These will be handled by leadership on a case by case basis so that we can best accommodate your family's needs and will be an option to choose during registration.
